FAQs - Courses/Classes

Orion gives you two months to finish a full credit course.  1/2 credit courses may be finished in one month.  Advanced Placement Courses may be finished in three months, but may not be taken in conjunction with other courses.

Some elective courses may be completed before the two months are finished, but that is up to the mentor and his or her expectations with you.

If you are unable to finish your course in two months, you may apply for an extension.  A one time, one month extension is provided by filling out the extension form, found on the Learner Center page on the left under Learner Forms.  Submit the extension electronically two weeks before the 27th of the month your course is scheduled to end.  In order for an extension to be approved, a learner must have made substantial progress (50%) in the course.

Out of the 7 days in the week, you should spend at least two two four hours per day per course  over five days of the week (5 hours a week).  You should also communicate with your mentor often.  You should take the Digital Learning Readiness Survey, to get a better idea.

To get dual credit, you can take a class from your local college or junior college for college credit.  Orion will accept any passing credit you get for the college course and apply it toward your graduation at Orion.  There is a max of 4 credits that can be applied to Orion's transcript toward Orion graduation.  Please see the Learner Adviser for additional information.
