A partnership with Orion can allow your students access to a rigorous catalog of online courses that are lead by appropriately credentialed and trained teachers who provide your students individualized instruction. Since Orion's digital learning school is accredited by SACS CASI and recognized by TEPSAC, schools and students can be assured that courses meet the state's standards (TEKS). Additionally, Orion codes each course with the appropriate PEIMS code and all records can be exchanged via Texas Records Exchange (TREx).

Expanding Course Access

Orion can provide your students access to a wide-variety of courses from core high school courses to College Board®-approved Advanced Placement® courses. Your students would access the same course offered at Orion High School, a SACS CASI/AdvancED accredited digital learning school recognized by TEPSAC as a nonpublic Texas school.

With continuous enrollment, Orion's comprehensive course catalog can be used to provide students expanded access to high school courses, Advanced Placement® courses, and more to be taken in addition to the courses at their campus to see their graduation plan. Students are able to complete online courses at school or off-campus wherever they have access to an internet connection.

Orion vs. TxVSN, Scenario #1

Scenario: George is missing an algebra credit he needs to graduate. But with his job and other obligations, he can't make it up in summer school.

Cost through TxVSN: As of March 1, 2017, a search for "Algebra 1" shows that a school would be charged anywhere between $250-$350 per half-credit. The school's total cost to help George through the TXVSN would be at least $500.00.

Cost through Orion: Without a partnership, a counselor could refer George to Orion High School where he could pay $300 per full-credit out-of-pocket. If the school was partnered with Orion High School, the school's cost would be as low as $270, or the out-of-pocket for the student's family would be $255.00.
