The 2016 Orion High School Hometown Commencement Ceremony

ADE 001 FP Orion High School's learners become diploma eligible each month, and are awarded their diplomas upon approval. Orion High School holds a yearly Hometown Graduation Ceremony, honoring the young men and women who have earned their diploma any time from August of 2015 - August 2015. Learners are not required to participate in the ceremony, but many do, as a culmination for them and their families. This year's Hometown Graduation Ceremony will be held at Orion's hometown of Midland, Texas, on July 22, 2016. There ceremony will be held at 5:00 PM Central Time at the Doubletree Hotel in downtown Midland, TX. This year marks the 9th annual ceremony in our hometown.

The ceremony will be held at the Double Tree Hotel in downtown Midland, Texas. The ceremony begins at 5:00 PM and participants should report by 4:30 PM in the foyer. The Double Tree Hilton Hotel is at 117 W. Wall Street, in Midland, Texas. The ceremony begins at 5:00 PM to allow learners who are traveling, ample time to drive, if necessary, into Midland, Texas. A reception will follow in the event's location as well.

Parking at the DoubleTree Hotel will be in the lower level/underground parking. The ceremony is upstairs on the second floor in Ballrooms A,B,C.

Orion High School's Warrior Chapter of the National Honor Society is the host of the ceremony, and members serve as Honor Guard participants in the ceremony. During the ceremony, Orion High School awards the Valedictorian Award, for the learner graduating with the highest grade-point average. The Salutatorian Award is awarded to the learner-graduate with the second highest grade point average. If the Valedictorian is a Texas resident, Orion High School provides an award for the graduate to attend any public college or university in Texas, tuition free for the first-year.

The official colors for Orion High School are Navy Blue and Old Gold. The approved regalia can be purchased in the Orion Store, found in the Orion High School Learner Center (you have to be logged in to purchase from the store). Learners who have appeared on the Honor Roll list for any end-of-term are eligible to purchase Honor Chord to be worn during the ceremony. NHS Members may purchase the Honor Stole, to signify membership in the Warrior Chapter of the NHS.

Learners should order their commencement cap and gown no later than the second week in June in order to receive the regalia on time. The sizing chart is found in the Orion Store, below. Learner-Graduates who may not be attending the ceremony, may also want to purchase other gifts in the Orion Store.
